Journey to Being Fit!!

It’s time we all realise it’s not the environment or the circumstances that we have to change; it’s the inner environment that we all need to focus on. When it comes to inner environment it’s both the mind as well as the body. Taking medicines doesn’t improve out immunity. The other day wondering on the word immunity I realised immunity isn’t only the capacity to fight the infection or maybe the situation, I feel immunity is building our strength to heal something at a faster rate. We need to build on the immunity first the mental and than the physical. It’s important we start to build practices that help us build this immunity. Circumstances will not change for us we need to build our perceptions so it stops affecting us.

So this thought of being fit started building up for me since quite some time. Every stage of being fit taught different things to me. It started with swimming which I enjoy doing. It brings me peace. Than it went ahead with small changes of how I eat and what I eat. My body and mind started enjoying this journey of being fit not because I wanted to look good and have a flat stomach but because it made me feel healthier. The next stage came during the lockdown last year; where I realised for how many years I had taken my body for granted. So now respecting my body also included ‘saying sorry’ to my body for not attending it. That brought up the feeling of gratitude of having a body which functions perfectly well whether I attend or I don’t. So I decided to say ‘thank you’ to all my body parts for doing their best for me for all these years. So than I became more cautious of how I treat my body and started exercising to start with walking regularly. It made me feel a lot more respect towards myself.

The next stage came in when a friend of mine showed up in my life out of the blue who is in fitness and training.  He made me realise the importance of diet in my life. We both believe that the universe will align people and circumstances for you when you take the first step. He coming in my life was that part of alignment. With his help I did build up on my diet and exercise routine. I decided to have a little chat with my body with regards to the changes in my diet and how I would love to have my bodies support to work on it. To my surprise my body did not show up any discomfort after the changes in the diet. I realised we have a lot of misconceptions about diet it’s not skipping meals or eating less, it’s having proper meals with proper proportion of proteins in it. So on this journey people asked me you don’t have a cheat day which is a negative word according to my fitness friend so the we say the ‘treat days’; so the answer  to this question is no because I never felt the need to have one, why because I was building it for myself; So I could function better because I love my body. The goal was not to lose weight or have a flat stomach the intention was to be fit. So doing everything that makes me fit emotionally, mentally and physically, the other things are perks of being fit. Along with building on the body it’s even more important to build on your mind. Working on our fears, insecurities, emotions, hurts, focusing on gratitude and positive perceptions is important. It’s important what we feed our mind with.

We don’t have to wait till our body gives us a call to attend to it. Neither we have to fight things that are outside and win over them that is our ego at play. We need to look within to build our life by acknowledging the presence of good. We all need our mind and body to do the work we need to do and to live the life we want to live. So let’s respect that we all have a body so stop complaining about how it’s not working properly instead help it heal and help it be fit.

Love and light to all.
